Publication Ethics

The International Journal of Bangla Literature (IJBL) is a double-blind peer-reviewed journal firmly committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and academic integrity. This policy clearly defines the ethical responsibilities and codes of conduct for all parties involved in the publication process, including authors, the Editor-in-Chief, the Editorial Board, peer reviewers, and the publisher. The ethical framework of IJBL is developed in accordance with the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Best Practice Guidelines.

Ethical Guidelines for Journal Publication

Publication in IJBL plays a vital role in building a coherent, reliable, and reputable body of scholarly knowledge in the field of Bangla literature. Peer-reviewed articles reflect both the quality of the authors’ research and the academic standing of their affiliated institutions. All individuals involved in the publication process are expected to uphold principles of honesty, transparency, and accountability.

Duties of Editors

1. Fair Play

Editors evaluate manuscripts solely on the basis of their intellectual content. No consideration is given to the authors’ race, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political ideology.

2. Confidentiality

Editors and editorial staff must ensure strict confidentiality of all submitted manuscripts. Information may be disclosed only to the corresponding author, reviewers, editorial advisers, and the publisher, as appropriate.

3. Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

Editors must not use unpublished information disclosed in a submitted manuscript for their own research without the author’s explicit written consent.

4. Publication Decisions

The Editorial Board determines which manuscripts are suitable for publication based on their quality, originality, relevance, and academic significance. All decisions must comply with applicable laws regarding defamation, copyright, and plagiarism.

5. Review of Manuscripts

Editors must ensure that each manuscript is properly evaluated for originality and relevance. The peer-review process shall be conducted fairly by qualified, impartial reviewers with no conflicts of interest. Details of the review process and policies are clearly stated in the Author Guidelines.

Duties of Reviewers

1. Contribution to Editorial Decisions

Reviewers assist editors in making informed editorial decisions and help authors improve their manuscripts through constructive and scholarly feedback.

2. Promptness

Any reviewer who feels unqualified to review a manuscript or is unable to complete the review within the stipulated time must decline the review request.

3. Confidentiality

Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents and must not be shared or discussed without editorial authorization.

4. Objectivity

Reviews must be conducted objectively and supported by clear arguments. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate and unacceptable.

5. Acknowledgment of Sources

Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the author and notify the editor of any substantial similarity or overlap with previously published works.

6. Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

Reviewers must not use privileged information obtained through peer review for personal advantage and should withdraw from the review process if a conflict of interest exists.

Duties of Authors

1. Reporting Standards

Authors must present an accurate, clear, and objective account of their research, enabling others to replicate or verify the work. Fraudulent or misleading statements are unacceptable.

2. Data Access and Retention

Authors may be required to provide raw research data for editorial review and should be prepared to retain and, where possible, make such data publicly accessible.

3. Originality and Plagiarism

Manuscripts must be entirely original, and all sources must be properly cited or acknowledged.

4. Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication

Submitting the same research to more than one journal simultaneously or republishing previously published work is ethically unacceptable.

5. Acknowledgment of Sources

All works that have significantly influenced the research must be properly acknowledged and cited.

6. Authorship of the Paper

Authorship credit should be limited to those who have made substantial contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the study. All co-authors must approve the final version of the manuscript and agree to its submission. Individuals who contributed but do not meet authorship criteria should be acknowledged appropriately.

7. Fundamental Errors in Published Works

If an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in a published work, they must promptly notify the editor and cooperate in correcting or retracting the article.

These ethical guidelines uphold the credibility, integrity, and academic standing of IJBL and contribute to establishing a transparent, fair, and internationally accepted standard for scholarly research in Bangla literature.
